PHP North West conference 2011

Once again the PHP NW Conference is coming to Manchester in October, and the schedule is now online. All of the talks look interesting, although having realised that they run in three parallel sessions I’m not entirely sure that giving up an entire day for only five talks is worth the while. In my experience, one hour is a bit too long to listen to one speaker, as people start to tune out after about thirty minutes, and I’d prefer to have shorter slots with more speakers.

Unfortunately the event clashes with the FLOSS UK unconference, which I suspect will result in a lack of PHP talks, although with such an active and vibrant digital community in Manchester it’s pretty much impossible to organise an event which doesn’t clash with something else. However, the unconference is free to attend (though we’ll ask for donations on the door), so if you’re not into PHP or can’t afford the £80 registration fee, come along and say hello at the Manchester Conference Centre (the original and best, not the renamed G-Mex which confuses everyone who has lived in Manchester for more than three years).
